Other high school newspapers

What is your favorite newspaper front page? Why?
CRAZE Around the World Issue, I liked the simplicity of the page, it was simple but still conveyed what the paper was about.

Which paper immediately grabbed your interest? Why?
CRAZE, The colors on the front are pale and simple and that stood out amongst the bright and complicate surroundings.

What is your favorite headline from that newspaper? Why are you interested in it?
DIY: HENNA I was interested in this because of the fact that it was a DIY, I liked that the newspaper was teaching something pretty cool and I, just in general, have an interest in henna.

How many stories are on the front page of your favorite?
One

What do you notice that all newspaper front pages have in common? Look at design, size of photos, size of story text, etc.
Moat have a dominating photo, at least one headline, most have some other text, there are usually one or two stories that dominate the froth page, text other than headlines is small.

What are things that vary (or are different) on the front pages of different newspapers? Look at design, size of photos, size of headlines, etc.
Some papers don't have any text other than the headlines, the fonts and text sizes are different depending on what the newspaper feels is important.

Were these similar to what you saw last class when you looked at daily newspapers from around the world?
In someways they are he same but in other ways they are different.

"Eagle's Eye News"  "The Sailer's Log" "The Chieftain"

Front Pages of the World

I like this page because of the photo they picked and the headline over the photo.  I like the TransAsia plane crashes into river one because of the way it pops out and because of the story behind it, I want to know what the story is, how this happened, who was hurt, killed, who took the photo? There are two stories on the front page, the plane crash and "Defense nominee wants to arm Ukrainians." All newspapers have a date and title and author names next to stories and photos, they all have adds as well. They also all have headlines and text stories and a big photo with some other photos around the rest of the page, these photos also have their own headlines that draw people in and encourage them to read the inside of the paper. Different covers may have a more photos or shorter stories with a high number of them. Newspapers can have different fonts and set ups and put more emphasis on certain things.

5 Websites

Killer Timelapse

What did you learn new?
I learned about timelapse photos, how to get into them, why they interest us and how this photographer goes through the process of making them.

If you looked at a video, please do the following:
a.     Describe what you saw in the video.

I saw a video of various time -lapses all around Rio de Janeiro
b.     Try to figure out who made the video. If it was a photographer look them up on google and see if you can learn more about them.

Joe Capra created the videos.
d.     What did you learn new?
I learned that I want to go to Rio, and how the photographer creates time lapse videos.

Spiral Staircases

I picked this photo because I really like photo's of things that are rusting or peeling, it also has a really large and interesting color range that drew my eye. This photo has leading lines in both the railing and in the steps and displays a balance on either side. The photographer iChristian Richter.

Style

a.     What did you see on the website, describe it in 2-3 sentences?
On the website the article was trying to teach or show me how I can develop my own personal style
b.     What did you learn?
I learned how I can work to develop style
c.     How did the site relate to photography?
It was about creating style in your photos

Projectors

What did you learn new?
Projectors can be used not only on flat surfaces

I picked this photo because it was my favorite of the bioluminescence's they did. Not many,  the photo looks like it it probably just a frozen version from the video, I think balance is present in this photo in the flame-y light on the leaves. I do not know who took this photo but the video was by Tarek Mawad and Friedrich van Schoor.

The Oldest Living Things in the World

I like this photo because of the bright colors in both the back ground and foreground of the photo, it caught my attention. I see leading lines in the core of the tree and a balance of light on the left and right sides of the tree, the left is light and the right is dark. Rachel Sussman took these photos.
